The Revenue for the year 1908

amounted to $6,104,207.33, being

$123,682.67 less than the estimate and $498,072.921ess than the Revenue of

4141969

The Expenditure during the year, exclusive of Canton-Kowloon Rail- way, amounted to $6,573,341.41 being more than the Estimate by $394,810.41 and more than the Expenditure of 1907

by $816,137.94.

The excesses on the several Heads requiring Legislative sanction amount- ing to $512,200.34 have been duly pro- vided for by Supplementary Appropria- tion Ordinance No:12 of 1909, and the excesses on subheads which have been met out of savings on other subheads of the same votes have been duly sanc- tioned by the Secretary of State.

3. In accordance with the views expressed in the letters from this De- partment to the Colonial Office which are noted in the margin the Account,

as originally rendered, has been amend-

ed and now shows under separate heads, on the Expenditure and Receipt side

respectively
